Day Two: Bike the US for MS

Well, today was day two of my 3,785 mile journey. We knocked out 80 miles today and 10 of it was spent in quite a down pour. Honestly, I was exhausted by mile 67, but when you’re riding that far, 13 more miles doesn’t sound that bad! Since we had to complete 80 miles, we woke up around 6AM and took off around 7AM. Honestly, I assumed I would have been tired from our first day, which was 60 miles, but I had great sleep in a local church that offered us housing. It took us most of the day to knock out 80 miles, but I can feel my muscle becoming stronger everyday and it is greatly appreciated. Funny story while we’re talking about the morning, within the first 5 miles of taking off, we got lost. We ended up following a road for probably 5 or so miles more than we should have and couldn’t figure out what we had done wrong. Since we already had 80 miles, we chose to just go and ride it out. This worked out fantastic for the first 3 miles, and then we ended up chugging along on the side of a turnpike praying for safety. Thankfully we were all able to arrive safely and needless to say we read our maps more carefully now. It was a beautiful morning though so we couldn’t complain. The sun was shining, but not enough to hurt us, and we were in a large group. It was a crazy start, but those are always the starts that make great memories later. After that we were able to cruise and enjoy the day; we even stopped to pet a friendly horse. I couldn’t have asked for a better day, and I couldn’t have asked for a better team to ride this route with. Everyone is incredibly supportive and ready to help. BUT it is now time for me to crash because my legs are feeling heavy. I am proud to do this ride for such a great cause. Feel free to ask questions about bike the us for ms anytime! I would love to answer what I can.
